Mel & Rocky's Wedding at Whare Flat, Dunedin

So we are pretty much right smack dab in the middle of the 2017/2018 wedding season and it's been a blast! I've been booked out most weekends this year and taking a wee holiday break to catch up with my love and all of the endless social media and website updates I need to take care of. Being self employed means you never take time out, but the trade off is that you're doing what you love... And I do adore photographing weddings! I'm a hopeful romantic at heart and really enjoy getting to spend time with people on such a special and love filled day.

This particular post is about my newlywed clients Mel & Rocky and their beautifully wild wedding at the Wairoa Scout Camp at Whare Flat, Dunedin, New Zealand. First of all, what a great place to have a wedding! Whare flat is a gorgeous spot nestled in the bush with a beech forest chapel, streams running through and sweet little scout cabins located throughout. It was a perfect day, gorgeous sunshine and warm summer weather. Mel and Rocky are an awesome couple and super laid back, I could really see the love that they share between each other and the fun they have in their relationship. It was a real pleasure to capture their special day and all the crazy antics they got up to. I mean, they had a water slide at the wedding for the bridal party and friends... What more could you ask for? Oh yeah, Mel's Dad also brought a whole bunch of mead complete with viking horns to drink out of... I didn't stay till the wee hours, but I can imagine the night got a little crazy in the best possible way.. Good thing those scout cabins were there to crash in!
